F.A.Q.s
Massage Services

Have questions about our massage services? In this section, you'll find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about massage therapy. From the suitability of Thai massage for various clients to concerns about allergies and chronic illnesses, we address a range of topics to help you make informed decisions.

  • Is Thai massage advisable for the elderly?
Thai massage is excellent for elderly individuals and those with varying abilities. Limited mobility is a leading cause of age-related muscle deterioration, and Thai massage helps counteract this by moving muscles and joints through their full range of motion. This technique provides benefits akin to yoga—relieving tight joints and promoting relaxation—through safe, passive movements into yoga-like poses.
  • Is Thai massage advisable during pregnancy?
Traditional Thai massage, with its deep stretches and pressure techniques, is generally not recommended during pregnancy due to the intensity of the treatment, which may not be suitable for expectant mothers. However, we do offer specialized pre-natal massages tailored to the needs of pregnant women. These treatments are safe to begin after 12 weeks of pregnancy and are designed to alleviate common pregnancy discomforts such as back pain, swollen legs, and fatigue.
For post-natal care, we provide post-natal massage starting four weeks after childbirth to support recovery, relieve muscle tension, and promote relaxation. Thai massage can also be introduced as part of post-natal care from six months postpartum, focusing on gentle techniques that support the healing process.
We always recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before scheduling any massage therapy during pregnancy to ensure it is safe for you and your baby.
  • Do you take MVA (Motor Vehicle Accident) clients?
Yes, we accept MVA clients after you have seen a chiropractor or physiotherapist to complete an AB-1 form. Approved treatments require direct payment, with receipts provided for reimbursement from your insurance company.
  • I have allergies. What kind of ingredients do you use?
We understand concerns about allergies and sensitivities. Our products use only high-quality ingredients:
    • Massage Oil: Organic coconut oil, lotion, and organic essential oils, including our signature Thai herb oil.
    • Luk Pra Kob (Herbal Ball): Contains dried herbs such as Plai, Turmeric, Lemongrass, Kaffir lime peel and leaves, camphor, and tamarind leaves. These herbs, wrapped in cotton, are applied topically for detoxification, inflammation relief, and skin improvement.
  • I have allergies. What kind of ingredients do you use?
Massage clients are required to complete the consent form and provide truthful information to the therapist regarding any illnesses, pregnancy, medications, and other health-related issues.
However, individuals with the following conditions in which massage is generally not recommended, or may require special caution and medical clearance:
    • • Contagious or infectious skin conditions (e.g., ringworm, impetigo, open sores)
    • • Fever or acute illness (e.g., flu, severe cold)
    • • Infectious diseases (e.g., untreated COVID-19, chickenpox, measles)
    • • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or other blood clotting disorders
    • • Unstable cardiovascular conditions (e.g., recent heart attack, severe hypertension)
    • • Severe osteoporosis or other conditions causing fragile bones
    • • Recent surgeries or injuries, especially without a doctor’s clearance
    • • Cancer (especially if advanced or without medical approval)
    • • Uncontrolled diabetes, particularly with significant neuropathy or circulation issues
    • • Neurological conditions with uncontrolled symptoms
    • • High-risk pregnancies or those with complications (consult a physician first)
Before receiving a massage, individuals with any of these condition or other serious health concerns should consult their healthcare provider to ensure it is safe to proceed.

Insurance & Direct Billing

Have questions about insurance coverage and direct billing for our massage services? Our FAQ section provides answers to common inquiries, such as the availability of direct billing, understanding your insurance coverage, and the process for multiple insurance plans.

  • Is Thai massage covered by my Health Care Plan? Do you have RMTs?
Yes, our Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) have completed massage therapy training and additional courses in Traditional Thai massage. Be sure to specify an appointment with an RMT when booking.
  • Do you offer direct billing?
Yes. We can submit claims to your insurance provider on your behalf. However, you must pay upfront, and direct billing may not be available due to system errors or downtime. If issues arise, we provide receipts for manual submission. Massage services are categorized as paramedical services.
For some cases, receipts are provided for manual reimbursement.
  • Can you tell me how much coverage I have?
Unfortunately, no. Due to the Privacy Act, insurance companies do not share this information with us. You can check with your insurer or employer. We can track billed amounts to help estimate when you might reach your limit.
  • I have two insurance plans. How does that work?
Your primary insurance plan is the one under which you are the insured member. The secondary plan is typically your spouse's plan. We bill one insurance company at a time and provide receipts for submission to the secondary plan.
  • My spouse/child does not like massages but is under my benefits plan. Can I use their coverage after mine runs out?
No. Using someone else's benefits for your treatment is considered insurance fraud and is illegal.
  • Can you charge my insurance extra so I don’t have to pay out of pocket?
No. Overcharging insurance is fraud and is against the law.
  • My insurance requires a prescription for treatment, but I don’t have one yet. Can you process my claim while I get the prescription?
No. Insurance companies require the prescription to be issued before or on the treatment date for approval.
  • Since you are an RMT and work in a spa, can you bill my facial as a massage treatment?
No. RMTs cannot misrepresent treatments on receipts, even if they are trained in both massage therapy and esthetics.
  • I won’t use all my coverage this year. Can I prepay for treatments and bill them this year?
No. Insurance companies only accept receipts for treatments that have already occurred, with the treatment date matching the receipt date.
